“Don’t tell me you came for the artwork,” a deep, masculine voice said from behind her. She closed her eyes briefly, sucking in a sharp breath at the sound that seemingly had a direct line to the parts of her body craving male attention.

Wow, that was fast. Good job, dress.

“What else would I come for?” she replied without turning to face him.

“I don’t know about you, but my eye’s been on a table filled with chocolate five feet away,” the mystery man said.

Chocolate. She opened her eyes. Melt-in-your-mouth sugary goodness came a close second to orgasms on her list of wants.

“What kind of chocolate?” She kept her gaze fixed on the bold red brushstrokes running through the center of the first painting.

He chuckled. “I didn’t look too closely. Does it matter?”

“The details are always important.” Like if the man behind her filled out his suit with a body that promised to make her dreams for tonight a reality. “Milk chocolate tastes different from dark. Do they have fillings that melt in your mouth or ones that explode with flavor?”

She felt him move closer. His heat merging with hers. Without the mask, she might have caught a glimpse of him from the corner of her eye, enough to know if the man matched the panty-melting voice.

“You like things that explode in your mouth?” he said, the words a low growl in her ear.
“Yes.” This man could read the phone book and leave her breathless and brimming with desire. But she wanted more than words tonight.

So she turned to face him.

And oh, God help her, she needed a taste of this man. Her lips refused to form the words “but I’m partial to caramel,” because one look and she was partial to him.

Mr. Panty-Melting Voice had a body that begged to be explored, worshipped, and painted. From his square jaw to the way he filled out his tuxedo, he looked as if he was auditioning to be the next James Bond. Maybe he was. This was Vegas, only a hop, skip, and a jump from Hollywood. And in her humble opinion, his short brown hair and green eyes were a lethal combination.

Move over, Daniel Craig...

“I’ve been watching you stare at those paintings for the last few minutes,” he said, his full lips offering a hint of a smile beneath his plain black mask. “Without even glancing at the chocolate fountain.”

“There’s a fountain?” She heard the note of longing in her voice. Chocolate, carbs—those had topped the list of diet no-no’s for the past six months. But tonight, everything was on the table.

“Yes. You might have noticed if you had moved from this spot. So I have to ask, are you waiting for your date? A boyfriend?”

“No.” Her breath caught on the one word. This man had to be someone—a movie star, a model, the perfect male specimen—he couldn’t be for her.

But the thought of walking away and finding another man to explore her fantasies? Impossible. In her mind, she would hear this stranger’s voice. She’d spend the next forty- eight hours craving the deep sound, wishing she could listen to him murmur sweet nothings in her ear as they acted out her fantasies—or even better, his fantasies. If she walked away from him now, she would spend every minute until sunrise wondering about his top four, though she had a feeling he didn’t carry around a pink Post-it note with his wicked desires spelled out.

Review of Dark Union by S.M. Reine

June 27, 2015

James - 1 and Elise - 1. What am I counting? The number of times they've died. But in terms of who's saving who, James is obviously losing. A quick recap of some things that happened in The Darkest Gate: Elise and James, along with Anthony and Betty, had to fight two opponents; one a giant spider who rules Las Vegas and the other an aspis-kopis pair with a need for vengeance. On the process, Betty died, Anthony avenged him by killing her killer, Elise also dies because He almost got her, Thom brought her back to life, Elise and James suddenly shared this weird and intimate connection, and Elise is even more dedicated to protect the world.

So basically, nothing much happened, eh? So what of the Union? Let me introduce you to the group of people I hate the most. Oh, by the way, there is not a lot of James in here. Probably for the best though.

Title: Dark Union (Descent #3)
Author: S.M. Reine
Publication Date: July 21, 2012
Published by: Red Iris Books
Source: Bought

SYNOPSIS:

Every fifty years, the most powerful ethereal and infernal beings convene on Earth to resolve conflicts with mediation by kopides--humans born to police relations between Heaven and Hell. They're meeting in Elise Kavanagh's territory this year, and she used to be the greatest kopis in the world. But she's not invited.

An old friend, Lucas McIntyre, asks her to attend the summit in his place. But when she arrives, she discovers that a human faction called The Union has taken charge of the summit, and they're not playing nice. Worse yet, someone has killed a prominent Union member, and now they're demanding blood.

Elise has to bring justice to the summit in DARK UNION, a 33,000-word (120 page) urban fantasy novella featuring a decrepit ghost town, angry men with guns, and even angrier angels.

CHARACTER BACKGROUND:

Elise Cavanagh is more emotionally distant than ever because she just can't process the pain that comes with them. She pushes people away, and quite frankly she doesn't care anymore if they leave or stay. She tries to shut down the connection he has with James because it pains her to see -- or rather feel -- that James is doing okay without her.

Anthony Morales has just lost his cousin, and his girlfriend is acting like it doesn't even matter. He feels neglected and taken for granted because of the way Elise treats him. He's given everything up for her if only she can see that.

REVIEW:

We get to meet new people in Elise's life. We also learn about the Kopis-Aspis bond.

"More permanent than marriage, more fatal than family, closer than the oldest friends."

For me, this sheds a whole new light on the relationship between the two. After the emotional turmoil Elise suffered from the loss of her best friend as well as the wall James built between them, it's nice to see Elise finally learning to shut James out. There were times -- namely when she's in pain -- wherein the connection strengthens and we "hear" the genuine concern James feels for Elise. I know it's very sadistic of me, but I like knowing that James gets all worked up and worried about Elise. Coz like dude, you sort of left her hanging first. We also get to see how much Elise actually values the people in her life. She's hell-bent on proving the innocence of Lucas, even if that means putting herself in so much trouble.

I felt like Elise was weak in this book. We all know how kickass she truly is, but here, she seems to be of no importance to most people. Also, she seemed to be too cold, and it's kind of upsetting the way he treats Anthony like trash. I mean, I get that he's kind of annoying, but he does support her every step of the way.

SUMMARY:

I found it okay, it's just that Elise seemed a bit weak here. Like she's not destined to kill Him or anything. The story also didn't progress well, and the strain between Elise and Anthony is really starting to get frustrating. But still, a good book. We get to meet more people. Some we'll love more in future books, while others...well, you'll just hate them and wish them death. Can't wait to continue to the next installment, Damnation Marked. Ooohhh, it's going to be awesome.

Hunter is the second installment in the very engaging, exciting, and nerve-wracking trilogy, Guy Erma and the Son of Empire. In Kidnap, we get to meet two 13-year old boys who are from different walks of life, with different goals and responsibilities, but are alike in some ways that are of importance. Now their story continues, and it is truly a roller coaster ride.

REVIEW:
As expected, the narration was eloquent and articulate, making the book -- the entire series, rather -- a great read for people of all ages. Like I said on my last review, the saga might have been originally written for middle school children, but because the language is not "dumbed down" and the story truly engaging -- though not that deep -- everyone can enjoy it.

True to its style, The Hollow Moon is fast paced and not boring, action-packed that brings forth surges of adrenaline rush, and curiosity-rousing that you can't not think of what's going to unfold. The story is getting deeper and more interesting the more it continues, and you just get hooked once you start reading it. Add to that the amazing graphics, and we can really say that Mr. LeVasseur  really succeeded with a 1,2 punch.

D back to the graphics bit; I said this on my first review, the pictures were absolutely amazing...except for the people part. I'm sorry, but I still find Gilbert kinda creepy looking. But aside from that, everything else is flawless. The colors vivd, background amazingly crafted. I give it a 9 out of 10.
SUMMARY:
All in all, I really liked this book. For some reason though, I still liked The Luminess of Mars a little better. But I still give The Hollow Moon 4.5 stars. Come check this out guys.

Blog Tour of Untouchable by Elizabeth SaFleur -- REVIEW

June 24, 2015

I had to read this book in 2 hours because I actually forgot that I had an ARC of it, waiting to be read. So you can say that I forgot about it which is very irresponsible, I know. I'm so sorry. But I did pay for it, if it's any consolation. Since I had to start reading it ASAP, I didn't even bother re-reading the synopsis to remind me of the story's outline. So picture this, me riding public transportation with a nosy guy beside me trying to catch a glimpse of what I'm reading on my e-reader, then I find out it's a freaking BDSM-themed book with lots of graphic sex scenes. Think I was uncomfortable? Nah! I remained cool and collected...on the outside, but on the inside I was burning up and freaking annoyed that I don't have privacy to read such things! I would've been able to savor THOSE scenes more. *sigh* Anyhoooooo, on to my review...

Title: Untouchable (Elite Doms of Washington #2)
Author: Elizabeth SaFleur
Expected Publication Date: July 3, 2015
Published by: Troll River Publishing
Source: ARC Given by Author and Tour Organizer

I
SYNOPSIS:
A powerful man in a powerful world, corporate attorney Carson Drake is the master of the short-term affair and the pre-emptive strike. His motto, do unto others before done to him, has kept him single and safe.

Public relations executive London Chantelle relishes in her independence and is an unlikely partner. Mistrustful and damaged from her history, London wants nothing to do with men seeking to cage her.

Yet their unexpected encounter at private BDSM club Diabolus offers a delicious opportunity for them both. Mesmerized by London’s spirit, Carson offers her a weekend of sexual, submissive pleasure. London, anticipating she could finally put her unwanted darker, longings to rest, agrees to his proposal.
The weekend proves beyond what either could guess. Carson quickly taps into London’s masochistic streak, and they discover how perfect they could be together. But when a blackmailing co-worker and long-buried secrets threatens their budding relationship, Carson must turn to the secret and powerful BDSM organization, The Tribunal, for help. Yet help always comes with a price, and soon Carson and London are forced to deal with their pasts.

CHARACTER BACKGROUND:
Carson Drake is a successful attorney, as well as a sought after dom. He gave up his mission of finding the perfect sub that would stay with him no matter what a long time ago. That is until a smart-mouthed, career-driven woman started challenging him and piquing his interest. Then he discovers that she might just be perfect for him.

London Chantelle's childhood has been anything but great. She's solely responsible for her little brother's well-being now, and add to that her need to be dominated and feel pain that she's extremely embarassed about, she learned to build walls and hide behind a strong facade. But Carson is the only man who made her embrace her true submissive nature in a beautiful way. That is until things get complicated.

TO LOVE:
I haven't read the first book in this series so I worried that I might be thrust upon a world that I would absolutely felt disconnected with. I didn't get that feeling at all. The author was careful enough to give details about their organization, the Tribune, and their lifestyle to paint a pretty clear picture. I do think she should have given "more" for readers like myself that haven't had the pleasure of enjoying the real introduction in the beginning of the series. But still the same, it was good enough.

I have to get this out of the way, the sex scenes. I am confident with my sexuality and I know myself well enough to say that I am a submissive. I may not look like it, considering I seem to be very dominant myself, but I am one. The dominance Carson exudes is so powerful and potent that it even affects me! That's how sexy and amazing he is. He's like the ideal dom that submissives would love to have.

The story was pretty good. The events were actually dark and painful, but for some reason, I feel like it wasn't that heavy. It could just be because I was in a rush in reading it so I didn't get the full impact.

TO BLEH:
I understand London's reserve and the reason behind her stubborness, but she just got to my nerves a number of times in the book. She goes all hot and cold, then Elsa-like icy. I just feel like Carson didn't deserve that kind of push and pull. But hey, that could just be jealousy speaking.

SUMMARY:
I'm going to be reading the first installment of the series, no doubt, as well as follow the upcoming releases, because I like the representation the author has of the whole dom-sub relationship as well as the lifestyle in general. I give Untouchable 4 stars.

The 20 Kinds of Book Readers (According to A Bookworm)

June 23, 2015

If you're an avid reader and you have friends who share the same hobby, you should know that not all bookworms are the same. We have different styles, preferences, pace, etc. So I've listed down the most common ones I've come across in hopes that you could relate to these [somewhat] apt descriptions.

P. S. Do try to figure out where you fit in after reading all of them. You might be surprised at the number of groups you find yourself relating to.

1. Samantha "Snob" Sanchez

They are our mortal enemy. Maybe that's stretching it out a bit, but these are people who cannot understand why we like to read. You tell them you can't go out because you're finishing a book and he/she looks at you all weird and rants about how boring reading is.

Giphy

Uhm, maybe you're just jealous because your imagination is non-existent. Am I right? Can I get some hands?

2. Alexa "Audiobook"

I have absolutely nothing against audiobooks, and I think that they're pretty useful, but I just get annoyed when I suddenly find myself in a conversation with someone who says they love reading but then find out they don't actually read books ... they listen to it.

I try to jokingly point it out, and they tell me, "It's the same thing." Then I'm like...

3. "Hoarder" Houdini

These folks buy books faster than a magician can say "Abracadabra". And they don't -- can't -- settle for just one or two ... They need to buy A LOT. If they get one part of a series, they need to buy it all. When you tell them that they already have tons of books they haven't even read yet, they go...

4. "Emotional" Emma

You either know one or you are one. You're the type who gets so attached to a story and its characters that you feel what they feel: happiness, sadness, anger, lust maybe? When you write reviews, you usually base what you write on your feelings about the book. It's okay, I am one too.

Giphy

5. "Speedy" Gonzales

These are also my people. We read like someone's going to steal our book from us. A 700-page novel? Yeah, that's not really going to take long. A fantastic trilogy? We'll start today and let you know how we liked all of them by tomorrow. If speed-reading is a sport in the Olympics, we would be champions. But this comes with a price: We sometimes forget faster than others.

Giphy

6. "Slow"-rida

Obviously the complete opposite of Speedy Gonzales, the "Slow"-ridas like taking their sweet time in reading their books. They really bathe in the information, and they like going back through lines they've already read. It's also easier for them to remember the details of the story as well as all the significant characters. They're what we would call, relaxed readers. Word of caution though: Do not lend them books, especially those that you like to re-read. Why? You probably won't see them again for at least a year or so.

Giphy

7. Dr Spencer Reid or Dr Sheldon Cooper

If you didn't get that, you have to get out more. They are the know-it-alls. They're like robots pretending to be human just so they can make us feel inferior. They read fast, they completely understand what they read, and they can even quote you lines from the book. They're freaking annoying, but you love them because they're just awesome. It's a strong love-hate relationship.

8. Cristopher Mc"Critic"

He is the Anton Ego to your Auguste Gusteau (from Ratatouille). They are [mostly] never satisfied and feel no shame in letting people know that they did not like the book they've read. They don't care about haters because they hold on to the belief that we are all entitled to our own opinions. But hey! If they really liked a book, they can write the longest and most colourful reviews.

Tumblr

9. Corina "Cover Lover"

I am 60% a Corina "Cover Lover". I am guilty of judging a book by its cover, and more often than not, I pass up on ones I don't like the cover of. But come on, you have to admit that you are one too, even if it's just a small part. Don't you go rolling your eyes at me!

10. "Devoted" Danny

This is the stalker-type reader. He is subscribed to his favourite author's newsletter, is updated with the latest news on what they're writing, and reads or have read ALL of the books his favourite author wrote. In his eyes, his idol can do (or write) no wrong.

Giphy

11. Sharon "Sharer"

There are two types of "Sharon's": First is the sweet kind because they're nice enough to recommend books that they've finished reading and thinks would suit your preference. The second one is kind of suffocating because they shove books down your throat -- figuratively of course -- whether you like it or not. Mixed feelings about them.

Giphy

12. Noah's "ARC"

We all wouldn't mind receiving free books, right? But the folks in this category could be compared to extreme couponers. They get ARCs like there's no tomorrow, and they grab an opportunity to get free books as soon as they can.

Giphy

Nothing wrong with it though because a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do, am I right?

13. "Compulsive" Cody

They don't really have a preference. They read anything and everything by anyone. They browse books, not really looking for anything in particular and they just make a decision to purchase one on the spot. *In hushed tones* Between you and me, they're kinda like book hoes.

Giphy

YIKES! Sorry about that. I love all the "Compulsive" Codys out there.

14. The Big Bang Theory Gang

Who doesn't watch this show? Shame on you!!! For those who are familiar with it, I have a question. Aside from being geniuses and socially inept, what do Howard, Raj, Lennard, and Sheldon have in common? (For those not following, think about the group of really nerdy-nerds in your high school who talks about Star Wars and superheroes all day.) ANSWER: They all LOVE COMIC BOOKS!

Giphy

They prefer the "POW!" "Kaboosh!" and "Thump" that goes with the drawings than endless words on white paper.

15. Sandy "Spoiler"

These people don't like surprises. They like knowing what to expect in the book they're going to read, so they thoroughly go through customer reviews in hopes that someone will give away what happens in the story. More often than not, they would also jump to the end of the book, then only start reading when they're satisfied with how it ended.

Imgur

16. Harry "Spoiler-Hater" Potter

Obviously, this is the EXACT opposite of Sandy "Spoiler". These readers try to avoid reviews with dead giveaways of how a story would unfold, and they usually throw a fit when someone tells them a vital part of a book that they're planning on or currently reading.

Consider yourself warned.

17. Skipper Mc"Skim"

Do you know someone who tends to skip parts of a book if they find it irrelevant or uninteresting? Yeah, well they fall into this category. They don't mind missing a few details just as long as they get to the "important" parts faster.

Tumblr

Pfft. Bit** please. Every scene is important.

18. Chandler "Character" Bing

The Chandlers are people who focus on the characters and the connection they can form with them. Stories come secondary. Most of the time, if they don't like the leads, they don't even bother finishing the book. They're all like...

Giphy

19. Phineas "Finisher"

So who am I talking about here? These very dedicated readers always finish the books they start. ALWAYS. No matter how much it sucks. They might skim or skip a few pages, but the bottom line is, they make sure to get to the last page. They pride themselves on that.

20. The "One More Chapter" Reader

I don't even have to think of a name to go with this. Nor am I going to explain it further. Just answer this, is this you? I already know the answer buddy. Fist-bump!

Did you find where you belong? Griffindor, Slytherin -- oh! Sorry. Anyway, the point is, no matter what your reading style is or how you perceive books, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. There's always someone who shares your passion as well as your quirks. Reading is a great way to get lost in another world, but it also helps us connect to more people in this world. Make the most out of it! Read and be free!! Peace out.

Blog Tour of More than Water by Renee Ericson -- REVIEW

June 22, 2015

Title: More Than Water
Author: Renee Ericson
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance
Publication Date: June 22, 2015
SourceARC Given by Author and Tour Organizer

ARA'S NOTE:
I've put off reading More than Water for a couple of weeks now. Why? I don't know. What I do know is that I regret not reading it earlier because I LOVED IT. It is definitely included in my favorite list, no matter if I don't have a physical one, but it would forever be in my mind and heart. There are so many reasons why I fell hard for this book, this story, and this author. Let me share them to you...

SYNOPSIS:
It doesn’t feel right. It doesn’t feel wrong. It just...feels.

EJ Cunning, an art history major, dates musicians. Foster Blake, a chemical engineering major, can’t sing a tune. They’re not each other’s type. They’re coworkers.

Then, one night leads to sex—sex between friends—which leads to an agreement. It all seems so simple—but nothing ever is.

Many layers build a person’s facade.

Look into the depths for what’s hidden within.

It’s more than water. It’s a story—a living and breathing substance beyond the reflective surface.

BUY LINKS:

CHARACTER BACKGROUND:

Evelyn "EJ" Cunning has balls, no filter, and is a true blue artist. She's quipped with lots of humor, sarcasm, and such genius comebacks that she makes such an impression upon first meeting. She has a passion for art, but she's confused as to what she should do next. Social expectations and family obligations are the rocks tied to her feet, dragging her down the water, and all she really wants is to be free and happy.

Foster "Fozzie" Blake is a genius with layers rivaling that of an onion. He's emotionally unavailable and is not capable of trusting another woman because of a past that cut him deeply. He knows what he wants in life and seeks out to get it...if only he can conquer his fear.

TO LOVE:
Where to begin? Oh I know, the break up scene!
"Nice to meet you. I hope you don’t mind giving my boyfriend a blow job tonight for me. You can even fuck him if you like. It’s up to you.” I lift my wrist, pretending to check the time on my nonexistent watch.
“I suddenly have other plans, and I wouldn’t want him to go without ejaculating for a period of time. He obviously couldn’t wait for my return, so you would be doing him and me a great service."
Who handles a situation like that? My girl, that's who! (Yep! EJ is now officially my gal.) I loved the book as a whole, but I got to admit, Evelyn is what really got me hooked. I've always been a sucker for female leads who can hold their own, has a funtastic arsenal of witty comebacks, and doesn't act all shy and coy. She knows who she is and is a strong believer of the saying, "If you don't like me for who I am, then that is your loss." Okay, maybe that's not exactly how it went, but that's basically the gist of it. I truly connected with EJ. We both have to act like two different people when we're with family and with the rest of the world. Only difference is, my family is much more supportive and really shows me that they love me. But the sense of responsibility, doing what's best for the family, being lady-like...oh yeah. We got that going for us. We both have zero filter as well. We say what we think and we mean it. We won't change the way who we are just so you'll like us. Nuh-uh, we'd rather stand up, walk away, and find other lucky people to grace with our awesomeness. She's also very passionate, wild (in a good way), and artistic. Exploring and stepping outside of her comfort zone doesn't scare her, and she my have a few friends, but they're perfect for her. I felt so in sync with EJ that about 1/8 in the story, I said, "Fu** it, I'm going to imagine I'm her. We're basically the same person anyway." Total book soul-sister moment.

Foster is a really cool guy. For a nerd, he's very...extraordinarily HOT. I'm actually into guys like him; smart, kind of geeky, can keep up with verbal war, easy on the eyes, a gentleman, and with a sense of humor. Did I mention he's amazing in the sack? According to EJ that is. Their banter is entertaining as hell, and I will re-read it over and over again just so I can be sharper when it comes to verbally abusing a person.

The story itself was amazing and there were events that which made me wonder how that freaking happened. We get to see both Evelyn and Fozzie grow into better people, and with their chemistry being what it is, they're just...explosive!!

TO BLEH:
What kind of ending was that? That could not have possibly be it. There's got to be more! An extended version perhaps, or a story that is written from Foster's POV perhaps. We just really need more. It didn't give us the closuere that we needed.

SUMMARY:
10 out of 5 stars for More than Water. I am not exaggerating, I just really loved it that much. It was beautifully written, the characters were all interesting, story was engaging from beginning to end, and the romance was simply...marvelous. I need more! I recommend this HIGHLY, and chances are I'll be reading it again. You'll enjoy this for sure everybody.
